The Denver Post: General Mills is no longer allowed to claim that eating Cheerios lowers cholesterol until the FDA tests and approves that it does so. They say the claims mean that the oats are considered a drug. I think people believe jsut about anything even if it's on a cereal box, so they should be careful with what they put on them but at the same time it's kind of obvious that since Cheerios is as healthy as it is, eating a bowl or more a day will change your diet and lower your cholesterol.

The Chicago Tribune: A Chicago police officer was shot in the head early this morning on the south side of the city and passed away this afternoon. With his girlfriend and some family members being involved in the same job, he will truly be missed.

The New York Times: A longtime abortion provider, Dr. Tiller, was shot in the foyer of his church while handing out bulletins. A main suspect has been said to be Scott Roeder, who has suffered from a mental illness many different times in his life. Close friends and relatives say they don't think Scott would be one to take another's life. Dr. Tiller had been attacked before by other abortion opponents, but probably never thought it would come to this. As a pro-life person, i don't approve of any murders so what happened to Dr. Tiller is not right, but neither is stopping a new life from growing.

  1. I am very strongly against abortion and feel that Dr. Tiller was doing a huge injustice to this country, by the way he was using his medical practice. However, he never should have been murdered. This is not the right message for a pro-life advocate to send.

  2. Wow! I am also against abortion but i do not feel by shooting people who are for abortion will solve anything. What an extrodiany place to murder someone.

  3. Megan -- Good choice of articles and good summing up -- now add your own response to what you read. What do you think about the claims of General Mills re Cheerios? About the murder of Dr. Tiller?
My thoughts -- advertising in this country is a very foul business. General Motors should be fined and fined and fined till they learn ethical practices.
About Dr. Tiller -- I am ardently pro-choice. I believe in the separation of church and state. We are NOT a theocracy. We ARE a democracy. I also believe in individual responsibility, and in the right to privacy.
The fringe elements of ANY ideology makes victims of us all. This is tragic.
Again, good work -- add your response.
